MLO 6: Research and Teachnology
Students gain knowledge of appropriate research methodologies and are able to apply them in their studies. Students use appropriate technology in research studies relative to Spanish Language and Hispanic Cultures. Students collect, manage, and analyze current and emerging technology-based resources to develop and produce their scholarly work.
Under this criterion, I have completed WLC 300 World Languages and Cultures Major Proseminar (Fall 2021), SPAN 300 Pre-Capstone for Spanish Major (Fall 2022), and WLC 400 World Languages and Cultures Major Capstone (Spring 2023)
One of the main components of my undergraduate academic work has been research through the technological framework. During my time in the Spanish major, I was exposed to various technological platforms for research, communication, and submission of assignments. One of the main assignments for this MLO was the creation of the E-portfolio, where we recorded our academic experience and our final research topic. This project allowed me to know in depth the online tools necessary for the completion of the project. For this section, I worked with my capstone group made up of Leonel Rua and Ana Lopez. In addition, being advised by Dr. Christine Fernandez a specialist on the subject, and with the help of Dr. Carolyn Gonzalez instructor of the WLC 400 class to finish our project on The Evolution of the Female Figure in Pandora´s Papers (1976) by Rosario Ferré presented during the Capstone Festival 2023.
During the completion of this project, one of the biggest difficulties was the compilation of peer review articles to support our thesis and the analysis of the works chosen for the creation of our Capstone paper. However, with the help of my advisors, colleagues, and all the tools that were provided to us by the Professors and guides of the Spanish program, I was able to successfully complete the project. The creation of this project allowed me to discover and learn in detail how to engage in the research process “from scratch.” On the other hand, I was able to carry out work on such a high scale in a group and to know what to expect in future research as I continue my education, whether through group or individual projects.
